The Brainy Canine's Story
I am a fully licensed AKC scent work judge.
Based in Ithaca, we offer in-person & virtual classes.
My Dogs:
I am a positive reinforcement trainer. I believe that partnering with your dog is crucial, and that most dog training can be accomplished through postive reinforcement methods. My canine-focused passions are nose work, obedience, and tracking. Toka has displayed a flair for agility, so we are enjoying this sport. He's working on his Level 2CPE titles!
Kiyo, Toka, and I compete in National Association of Canine Scent Work (NASCW) trials. Lovely eight-year-old Kiyo has made me proud with numerous firsts: First Akita to earn NACSW's NW3 title, as well as Elite, ELT1, ELT2, & ELT3 and the champion titles. She is also the first Akita to earn all of the AKC master scent work titles and the NACSW elite championship. In addition, she's the first Akita to earn Do More With Your Dog's Trick Dog Championship, and AKC Performer Dog's title.
At age three, Toka earned his Elite 1 & Elite 2 titles. In AKC Scent Work, Toka is the first Akita to earn all of the master AKC scent work titles (with placements!)
